Ruth Kelly’s response to the Inspectors’ report on the draft East of England Plan,
was published in December. It includes proposals for 10,000 houses in Welwyn and Hatfield,
12,000 in Dacorum and expansion of Stevenage into North Herts. A further cloud hangs
over North Herts in the form of possible expansion of Luton eastwards. Furthermore the
Secretary of State emphasises that these figures are the ‘floor and not the ceiling’.
A response form can be found on www.goeast.gov.uk, and the whole report is downloadable
from the same website.
This project’s purpose is to share the best ideas from members’ responses
to the Plan, in order to encourage others to make similar responses.
Members are invited to send selected and/or edited text from their
responses, together with any supporting pictures, to the site administrator
for inclusion below.
